Dear Woodcrest Families,

Welcome to our 2018-19 school year! As we continue our Leadership journey together, we will be acknowledging and celebrating all of the ways that “Woodcrest Rocks!” this year. Just like in a band where each musician has his/her own individual strengths that sound good, but together they harmonize and sound even better, so it is at Woodcrest. Each staff member, student, and parent has strengths. Put us all together and we ROCK!

I am thrilled to be starting my 3rd year as principal of Woodcrest Elementary. We are beginning our second official year as a Leader in Me school and it is exciting to see the students discovering their personal leadership skills. This year we will be “Aligning Academics” and applying the 7 Habits to the students’ academic goal setting and study habits. There will be more information provided as the year progresses so that you can support these skills at home with your child, as well. Watch this website for newsletters, upcoming events, and important information.

The success of each Woodcrest student depends upon a strong community of support and a willingness to work toward common goals. I encourage you to become as involved as you are able to be in the school community. Besides volunteering directly in your child’s classroom, you could join our wonderful Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) that provides many enriching and exciting activities and events for all of our students. In order for the PTA to do its good work, many volunteers are needed throughout the year. See the Calendar of Events for dates and times and check out the PTA website at http://www.woodcrestpta.org.

In the Parent-Student handbook that was sent home on the first day of school, you will find information about daily schedules, student dress code, behavior expectations, and much more. Please be sure to sit and read it over with your student so that everyone is informed about school policies and procedures. Keep the handbook in a place where you can pull it out and refer to it often. It has contact information for your child’s teacher, the school office, the cafeteria, and others you may wish to reach during the year. Good communication is the key to mutual understanding and problem-solving.

I look forward to meeting you at our various events this year. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely,

Jeanette Prescott

What's Happening

Principal's Tea

Each month, Mrs. Prescott will be hosting a Principal's Tea from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the MPR. This is a chance for parents to come and enjoy a few sweet treats and visit with the principal in a more informal setting. Building community is a priority at Woodcrest. Come and get to know Mrs. Prescott and have a chance to ask all of those questions you've always wanted to ask.
